A New Year and a NEW VENUE!
We are all very excited at this new venture into a lesser known area for OneTaste but an area that we all personally love and want to explore and we hope you’ll enjoy a new and exciting experience too!
We are kicking
off our move Eastwards at Favela Chic on 13th March with an amazing line up…
The line up:
A VERY Special Guest with a vivacious violin, who:
“Seamlessly blends soul and R&B warmth with masterclass-level classical leanings and an incredible ability to craft heart-rending songs that soar and dip like melancholic birds of prey. Move over, John Legend.” Paul Lester, The Guardian
A former member of Elova, the superbly talented Tanya Auclair graces the stage with her highly anticipated solo material. Tanya’s warm intimate mix of DIY drums, layers of vocals, intricate uke, guitar melodies and touches of electronica promises to be something never before heard and never forgotten.

MC Angel blew us away at last year’s Camden Crawl so much so we have asked her back for our debut East London gig! Angel’s conscious rhymes and unique rhythmic flows have left a permanent stamp on London’s thriving live Hip-hop scene. Angel started as a poet performing her original pieces at London’s Soho Theatre collaborating with some of Britain’s most skilled poets, moulding the Foundations for her piercing lyrical skill.
In 2008 she went on tour with Laura Dockrill aka Dockers MC and supported her on the launch of her book Mistakes in the Background. As well as that MC Angel won the Shoreditch Festival Poetry Slam ‘Rum Punch Slam’ as well as performing at Latitiude and on the Poetry Link Tour.
“MC Angel is a dangerous MC having won various slams and Heavy London MC Battles, a tough London-Irish girl who is afraid of absolutely no one!” Globalizer
“MC Angel is a young spitter who honed her art in the UK’S first all-female MC battle, and courts acclaim and controversy wherever she goes.” Apples and Snakes

The Bonfire Band are making their début at OneTaste with their bluesy folkness as a duo rather than a trio and we are really rather excited. Having been tipped about their greatness and watching their numerous YouTube clips we’ve invited them down to share a few songs from their two critically acclaimed albums.
“Anyone who hankers for DIY country bluegrass will revel in The Bonfire Band’s second self-released album ‘recordings from The Plough’, which is packed with homespun tales of love, suicide, dissolution and restless feet. Why noone has snapped the North London trio is a deep mystery.” Andy Fyfe, Q Magazine
“The Bonfire Band are one of those bands that are just about to explode on the scene. They have a tremendous variety of song and their harmonies can make your spine tingle.” Bruce Macgregor, BBC Radio Scotland (Travelling Folk) and Northern Roots Festival (Bogbairn Farm)

Another début act this month is Dougie Hastings who has been writing poetry for over a decade and has emerged as an award-winning performance
Dougie graduated from drama school and has a passion for the meanings and stories that are attached to words and prefers to express them in his own unique way. He is perhaps best known as a comedian, performing at The Comedy Store and The Comedy Cafe. He was a semi finalist in the recent New Act of the Year, and won the Utter! poetry competition.
Dougie’s focus is firmly on ‘back to basics’ and story telling and we are intrigued by his purveyor of funny and poetic filth.

The OneTaste Choir, led by soul singer, Stac, perform close harmony a cappella songs at nearly every OneTaste event. The Choir have collaborated with artists such as Alice Russell, Inua Ellams, Aloe Blacc and many other OneTaste and non-OneTaste artists on special arrangements to add something magic to their music and spoken word. It’s an amazing thing having 15 girls singing together, and we think you tasters are going to love it.
