Park Bench Poet

Park Bench Poet is a contemporary folk-music project featuring Matt Loveridge, Bear Bond and Chris Bond. The moniker refers to Matt’s teenage years spent writing poetry in his local park.

Loveridge met the Bond Brothers while studying at Cambridge School of Art (2001-2004). He began writing poetry-for-music in 2003.

Park Bench Poet’s first live performance was in 2005 at the annual R.V summer festival in South West Devon.

In January 2007 an acoustic E.P (unreleased) was recorded at the Bond’s family residence. By May 2007 these recordings had been discovered by Jo Whiley and subsequently played on BBC Radio 1 by Zane Lowe; Rob da Bank; Steve LeMacq and Huw Stephens.

Following their coverage on Radio 1, Park Bench Poet began performing at venues across London for poetry collective OneTaste. They have also performed at various British music festivals including Glastonbury, Green Man and the Secret Garden Party.

In December 2009, Park Bench Poet were the support act for their good friend Ben Howard on his UK tour.

Loveridge finished writing poetry for their debut album in 2012; ten years after the project was conceived. A full album release is expected in the near future.
