THE LINE UP

The Hat

The Hat are back in town to headline OneTaste. The Brighton based story telling quartet are, in our opinion, one of the most ingenius and spontaneously riotous bands on the UK circuit. Championed by Rob the Bank and once described as Roald Dahl read by Tom Waits backed by the Beastie Boys, The Hat are truly an unusual band full of charm, jokes and incredible musicality. They’ll transport you to strange, topsy turvy lands and have you laughing and crying on your journey. This is a band with big heart with an awe inspiring sound.

Jamie Woon

It wouldn’t be a OneTaste without the WOON! A co-founder of this 4 year old show, Jamie’s excursions into the darkside of soul, acoustic and electronica have earned him stages all over the world, i-tunes single of the week and a rep for being one of the most progressive and talented singer songwriters in the UK. Armed with a guitar, loop stations, new tunes, stunning vocals and a brand new band, don’t be too puzzled if you find yourself chanting ‘WOOOOOON’ by the end of the evening, everyone else will be too.

Excentral Tempest

One of the most rousing spoken word artists in London, Excentral Tempest is a multiple slam winner and her passionate delivery, message and artistic wordplay appeals to hip hop heads and literati alike.

“‘I’m the footfall that starts the avalanche, the issue of a man who farmed tea in afghanistan, i know that words cut hearts in half in ways that daggers cant, and still i stand solemn watching fools doing the braggers dance, but they dont stand a chance against themselves if no one else, they’re lost in their own silliness and trickery, thinking they rebelling but really their hearts are rickety, they’re caught up in the system just exhibiting complicity, while days are dense, like ancient forestry…”

David J

Quite the enigmatic performer and one that is renowned for each performance being a complete one-off, David J is a world class artist. Spoken Word derived from a Hiphop career, David’s lyrical wordplay, verbal dexterity and freestyle skills are simply awe inspiring and the content of these works straddles the worlds of dark politics and mysticism in a unique and powerful way. It’s an education to see this gentleman let lose on a stage.
