OneTaste Turns Ten
Waaaaaaaaaaay Back! on 12th December 2004, we held our first night on the top floor of The Bedford, Balham. Jono McCleery, Newton Faulkner, Pepe Belmonte, Jamie Woon and Paradox were the first music and spoken word line up. Back then we didn’t even have a name. 9 months later this unnamed night turned into a 3-floor festival. We called it OneTaste, and it stuck.
10 years on, we are taking a moment to look back on the hundreds of artists and creatives that have contributed to this scene and the thousands of people that have been touched by all of their efforts.
This night is for us all – the artists, the fans, the superstars, the master minds, the volunteers, the cooks, the designers, the technicians, the builders, the bar staff… everyone.
It’s rare that a small night gets to reach age 10 – most things come in fads and phases and die out after a few years. Through all of the high and lows, shifts and reinventions, we’re so proud to have had all the love and support from unmentionable amounts of people that made OneTaste stand this test of time.
7th December 2014 will be a celebration. We’re taking it back to our spiritual home The Globe Theatre in The Bedford – a rare occurrence for us now, but the place where we can still say, ALL the magic happens. There’ll be performances from artists throughout the years, DJs, dancing, community gathering… all the things that makes this city great.
And it’s so much bigger than just OneTaste and the crew & artists that we’ve grown up with. This is a celebration of the scene! – the other producers and promoters on the London roots and arts scene that we’ve been surrounded by, collaborated and celebrated with – The Bedford, PoeJazzi, Wormfood, Passing Clouds, WahWah45s, Hammer and Tongue, Chill Pill, Bang Said The Gun, Throwdown, Speakers Corner, Put Me On It, Lyrically Challenged, Lyrix Organix and many more.
This night is for us all.
